Are there sharks in Mediterranean Sea?

Mediterranean sea is thought to be home for 47 shark species like: Angelshark, Blue shark, Great white shark,Kitefin shark, Longfin mako, Sandbar shark, Scalloped hammerhead, Great hammerhead, Shortnose spurdog, Thresher shark. The most dangerous one is the Great White, however they are seen seldomly.

Was there a time when sharks attacked tourists?

There have been in excess of 200 shark attacks in the Mediterranean in the last century! That’s considerable when you think about the size of this sea compared to the great Pacific and Atlantic oceans.

That is dangerous. I hope those are not man eating sharks.

Other potentially dangerous sharks are the Blacktip shark, the Sand Tiger and the Hammerhead. Of the three ‘major’ killing species - the Tiger, Bull and Great White sharks only the Bull shark has not been found in the Mediterranean.
