Cristina Palabay of Karapatan stressed that human rights defenders should not be targeted for their work. Apart from the red-tagging that they are facing, numerous rights defenders continue to have “one foot on the grave” for defending people’s basic rights and fundamental freedom, said Palabay.
She furthered that they will not back down in calling for the passage of the human rights defenders protection act and their work in defending people’s rights aside from exposing human rights violation and also demanding accountability.
This is already an issue all over the world. I hope there are still people who will prioritize on implementing more laws regarding this.
