Some species of fish rely on coral for food and these fish are referred to as corallivore. One type of fish that feeds on coral is the butterflyfish. These beautiful and colorful fish and are only found in coral reefs. According to the Coral Reef Alliance, some species of butterflyfish eat the mucus off hard corals.
What coral is glowing?
The university’s scientists found that glowing colours in bleached corals act like a protective layer when symbiotic micro-algae are lost. The vivid colours are also a blinking neon sign that encourages the algae to return.
