What kills red tide algae

Clay mitigation involves spraying the surface of the water with a slurry of modified clay particles and seawater, and as the dense clay particles sink they combine with red tide cells. This process can kill the cells and also bury them in the sediment on the seafloor.

Is this the only way to kill red tide algae, I mean isn’t it too expensive?

There are more ways but of course, it still cost money like doing aeration, with chemical or biological additives, or the use of ultrasonic technology. Although there are plenty of treatment solutions on the market, they all have their cons. For example, algaecides offer quick results but damage the entire water ecosystem. Scientists are studying on adding parasitic algaes to fight red tide.
