Utrecht, a Dutch city, is the world’s most bicycle-friendly city. According to the Bicycle Cities Index 2019, a study done by digital insurance company Coya, riding conditions in 90 cities around the world were examined based on 16 variables across six primary categories: weather, bicycle usage, crime and safety, infrastructure, sharing, and events. Eight other European cities are in the top ten, with Hangzhou (China) being the only non-European city near the top.
