This year marks the 50th anniversary of the University of Florida’s—the beverage that can be found in coolers on the sidelines of football fields and basketball courts around the country. In 1965, a group of doctors created the beverage in a research facility on the University of Florida’s campus. (Thus the name, which is based on the Florida Gators.)
